Verbascum thapsus
Certified Organic, course cut
Our premium organic mullein leaf is carefully harvested from Verbascum thapsus, a tall biennial herb in the figwort family. Native to Europe and Asia but now found throughout North America, this distinctive plant with its soft, velvety leaves has been valued for centuries in traditional European and Native American herbalism.
The large, fuzzy leaves are coarse cut to provide optimal quality for herbal preparations. Known for their remarkably soft texture and mild, slightly sweet flavor, mullein leaves have earned their place as a cherished respiratory herb in traditional wellness practices across many cultures.

Traditional Uses
Mullein has been traditionally valued as a gentle respiratory herb, particularly treasured for supporting lung health and soothing throat discomfort. In traditional European herbalism, it was often called "nature's toilet paper" due to its soft leaves, and used in smoking blends and respiratory steam preparations. Native American traditions have long incorporated mullein for ceremonial purposes and respiratory wellness support.
Preparation
Steep 1-2 teaspoons of dried mullein leaf in hot water for 10-15 minutes to make a soothing herbal tea. The herb is commonly used in respiratory steam blends, incorporated into herbal smoking mixtures, or combined with other respiratory herbs like coltsfoot and thyme. When making tea, strain carefully through a fine mesh or cheesecloth to remove any fine hairs that may cause throat irritation.
