Ingredients

1 cinnamon stick

½ tsp black peppercorns

½ tsp whole cloves

10 cardamom pods, crushed

1 whole anise star

½ tsp coriander seed

1 cup sugar

1 cup water
Instructions
Place all spices in a pot over medium heat and toast for about 3 minutes to release their aroma.
Add the water, sugar, and vanilla.
Bring to a low simmer for 10–15 minutes, stirring often.
Cover, strain, and let cool.
Store in the fridge for up to two months.
